” He who trims himself to suit everyone else will soon whittle away”
It’s one of the hardest things to do but its the last and possibly the most difficult of the four posts I’ve done in relation to stress and hormones.
BREATH. MOVEMENT. CHECKING IN. SAYING NO.
Saying no can be the saving grace to yourself. I have a really close friend who often reminds me that sometimes I give too much, or say yes to plans because I want to even though it’s not the best thing for myself in that moment. She reminds me, I say you’re right and we both take deep breaths knowing that she’s helped me and that I can focus on myself for a little while longer.
Sometimes you need someone to remind you that it’s okay to say no. Most times we do! But if you can get to a place where you know yourself that well….where you know what is going to cause you more stress than positive energy, you’ll recognize when you need to say NO. On this journey our focus is to heal our bodies, heal ourselves and really get ourselves back to a balanced place. By allowing ourselves to opportunity to turn down plans, opt out of a night of drinking, sleep in a little longer, nourish ourselves that little bit more we allow ourselves to feel more calm and more at ease. This directly affects your hormones. I promise, they will thank you!
Like I’ve shared before, it’s in those moments of happiness, of calm and of saying no, that the best things sometimes happen! For me, it’s in those moments that my cycle comes. Knowing that I can do that for myself is one of my proudest achievements. The people that love you and know you and respect what you’re doing won’t care that you’re saying no. In fact, sometimes it’s their positive energy that you need to allow yourself to say no!
Over the next 21 days I’ll keep talking about these four ideas. Along with nutrition, taking care of yourself will help to make some magical things happen!
