As Fall rolls in I can’t help but to think about the space that we’ll be spending the next six months in (at least if you live in Canada). The rooms, the floors, the walls, the people. The thing about a home is that we have the ability to change it, modify it and move it so that it fits us. So that it comforts us and relaxes us, so that it welcomes us each and every time we step through it’s door. I found the below quote sifting through an old email to a very close friend of mine when she had just found out she was pregnant about four years ago.
” Our homes are our havens, the places where we keep the people and things that are most precious to us. This includes the safekeeping of our family members and pets, as well as treasured memories of the past and dreams of the future. Because we invest so much of our energy into our homes, it feels like the nurturing embrace of one who cares for us when we enter them. Our homes are reflections of ourselves and the bright and beloved spirits that share the space with us. When we take the time to clean and decorate, we are actually nourishing ourselves and our families. When we enjoy the time spent within its walls, we infuse them with our positive energy that will radiate back out to us. Today our appreciation fills our homes and embraces us and our loved ones.
Even if we live alone, we can experience the joy of being comforted and nourished. We can surround ourselves with photos and memories of loved ones. Our homes can be the receptacles of our wildest dreams that are held lovingly and carefully nourished until they are ready to take flight and be released into the outside world to grow into reality. Our homes should be the places where we feel the safest and most nourished when we are truly and fully ourselves. As we invest our loving energies into our homes today, we create our own sanctuaries.”
