living the life you want

There’s a lot to say around the new year that involves living the life you want and I’m no excuse. To me, there are always more things to do and more places to be, even if that means staying in and not moving a muscle. I will never give up the hope, desire and positivity that I can do whatever I put my mind to – it’s something that has been engrained in me since I was little and I can only hope I instill the same mentality in my tiny person.

There are so many things, big and small that are on my list, the biggest one being – not being afraid to look towards the life I want to be living. Last year, around this time, I signed up for my course at IHN. Every time I looked at the pamphlet I would smile. Of course I was nervous – I had a feeling ( and was right ) that I would be one of few ‘non students’ in the course, as well as probably one of the only students not in a health related career field. In my heart I knew it was the right decision – everything was telling me I was meant to learn more about women’s health, fertility and pregnancy.

I did it. It wasn’t until I quit my job four months later that LFJ really took it’s form, but it happened. One small scary decision turned my heart right side up for the first time in a long time.

I have recently stumbled upon an interesting couple on Instagram -sort of like a life coach / motivator team but on social media. Andra and Richey ( originally from Toronto ), picked up and moved to Australia, leaving themselves enough room to travel for 5 months before settling and working somewhere in the country. There is one thing to be said for doing this type of whirlwind trip either during, or after University or College – but to do this when you’re years deep into your career, recently engaged, when everyone is telling you that you should be saving to buy a house or be looking to start a family, is another thing ( in my opinion).

It takes so much courage to get up and walk away from what is comfortable. In fact, they wrote a simple 3 part series on the three most common questions they get about how and why they embarked on their journey – money, career and what other people will think. It’s nothing secret, it’s just personal motivation and courage at it’s best.

How does this relate to pregnancy and fertility?

How many of us don’t do, or find an excuse not to do certain things because of what other people will think? It’s so easy to avoid starting something just because it might seem too alternative or ‘weird’. (Side note: I really dislike the word or thought of something being too weird because I like to be openminded but I use it here because I know it’s the reality, for some people, some things are just too weird).

I would be the first one to say that you have to listen to yourself and do what you’re comfortable with, trust me. But there are so many options out there, so many alternative remedies and practitioners, so many stresses to let go of, so many mindful practices to pick up. If we continually look to this life we want to live but don’t actually actively participate in it, how can we expect the goodness to find us?

Take stock of where you want to be. Period regulated in six months? You can do it. Pregnant in a year? It’s absolutely possible. Don’t doubt yourself if your inner voice is telling you that you might be interested in something. Now is the time to try all of those things that you were hesitant of, and if you need some motivation, I’m pretty sure I’ve probably tried it, so either read through the blog and see if you can find my post on it, or send me an email and I’d be happy to share more personally my experiences with whatever it is! I wholeheartedly agree with what you’re saying in this post. In my coaching practice, I am uncovering how many people have become disconnected from that voice and don’t know how to turn inward to "hear" what their heart wants. It’s a skill to be relearned!
