What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It’s the only thing that there’s just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love,
No not just for some but for everyone.
As the cheesiness factor has reached an all time high in this post, I see no shame in listening to one of my favourites, Dionne Warwick, as she belts out about love. Throughout this journey I’ve had lots and lots of ups and downs. There is nothing like the experience of growing with your body and your mind. Fertility and pregnancy do that to you. They expand your knowledge and push you in ways you never knew you could go. You face fears, you talk about the worst case scenario and you wish upon anything to get you to that place that you so desperately want to be in. The best place to start? You. You’re the vessel for this tiny human to grow in. You’re it’s house for 42 weeks. So it kind of only makes sense to nurture yourself first and foremost. If you aren’t in a mental and physical space to take on this adventure than somewhere, someone in the universe is aware of it. But if you are, and if you’re willing to love yourself through a million wild and crazy moments, then it’s game on, you can’t give yourself too much love ( I don’t think ). Just remember, love comes in a million different shapes and sizes. Here is a little mantra I wanted to share.
Eat like you love yourself.
Move like you love yourself.
Speak like you love yourself.
Act like you love yourself.
SELF LOVE: In 1956, psychologist & social philosopher Erich Fromm proposed that loving oneself is different from being arrogant, conceited or egocentric. He proposed that loving oneself means caring about oneself, taking responsibility for oneself, respecting oneself, and knowing oneself (e.g. being realistic and honest about one’s strengths and weaknesses). He proposed, further, that in order to be able to truly love another person, a person needs first to love oneself in this way. [ Wikipedia ]
Here are 5 ways you can love yourself just a little bit more:
1. Create a self love ritual. One thing, once a day that you love, just for you.
2. Celebrate yourself. All of the goodness that you’ve created, the goodness that was, the goodness to come.
3. Put yourself first. Say no to the things that don’t serve you and then let them go.
4. Try something you’ve always wanted to do or pick up something that you’ve lost but that makes you feel good.
5. Share whatever goodness you’ve created with someone you love. Sometimes the most nurturing thing in the world is to give a little self love back.
“You give but little when you give of your possessions.
It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.” [Khalil Gibran]
