I can’t exactly remember how I stumbled upon the lovely and inspiring Emma but I’m so glad I did. Emma has a daughter, Eden Grace, who is about two months older than Agatha so maybe we bonded over that. Or maybe it was just because we both are always trying to find the positive amidst the challenging. Regardless of the how, she’s been lovingly added to our LFJ Community Page and I couldn’t be more excited. Her weekly TOP 5 THINGS I LOVED THIS WEEK and MATERNAL MONDAYS get me every time.
Here is a little snippet of the goodness she has going on.
MATERNAL MONDAYS
Instead, I held you
These words by Regan Long sum up my life right now.
My baby girl is all about cuddles. She’s popping out teeth like no tomorrow, is starting a new chapter of her life aka family day care and has had her first cold. All she wants is her mama.
And all I want is her. We lay on the couch for hours on end on these chilly days. Snuggling and breathing each other in. She nuzzles into my neck and plays with my ears. I just want to eat her.
It feels like there is invisible cling wrap that binds her to me. Some days I feel smothered and unproductive. But I’ve learnt to surrender to her and the slowness of motherhood instead of ticking everything off of the to-do list. That stuff can wait. She will only be little for a short while.

Week 203.
Top 5 Things I LOVED This Wk:
1. Being greeted at my friend’s house by her 3 year old son who sighed when he looked up at me. Apparently when she said “Emma’s coming over” he started gushing about how much he loves Emma and how much he loves watching her dance. Unfortunately he thought it was Emma the yellow Wiggle. I hear ya buddy, she’s my favourite too.
2. Finally figuring out what ‘link in bio’ means on Insta. Yep, right up there with the times I am…
3. Surviving my first turmeric latte. My stomach flips at the shear thought of it.
4. Finding a hidden key pocket in my Lorna Jane tights. Mind blown.
5. Dense, bitter pumpernickel bread.

PS. While Eadie and I were drawing with crayons this week, I ripped out a big piece of poster paper and drew up a grid. Down one side were the days of the week. Along the top were six little boxes that I filled with simple health rituals like:
-apple cider vinegar before meals
-exercise
-“me” time
-sweet enough (no extra sugar besides our dark choc on Fri nights)
I stuck it up on the fridge with magnets and at the end of each day I’d grab a pen and tick (or not tick) the boxes that I had completed. I’m a visual person.
Although these things are common sense and nothing overly challenging, I felt that it was necessary to pay a bit of attention to my own health as I tend to focus so much on making sure Eadie is nourished in every way that I often get put on the back burner. Hashtag mumlife.
Often I’ll get to the end of the day and think “Did I drink much water today?” or “Wow that day went quickly, I didn’t make time to do some exercise.”
There’s a quote written on our fridge that says “Your wellness is only as strong as your daily habits.” I am reminded of this when I see clients taking the latest overpriced superfood supplement or getting regular treatments with a certain modality, but their simple practices like eating fresh fruit or getting enough time in nature aren’t existent.
By putting effort and awareness into all those little daily rituals creates strong integrity for good health. Soon you don’t need to refer to the chart on the fridge because these habits are just a part of your daily life. This is my whole methodology for treating clients.
Maybe give it a go this week. If you need some help with it, give me a call to arrange a consult and we’ll do it together.
Have a beautiful wk!
