two is better than one

Support through anything is important.

Knowing someone is there for you, thinking of you, supporting you, loving you.

It doesn’t get much better than a dynamite duo. Two people that just fit.

Whether you are old friends, new lovers or eternal soul mates, those small things that you do for one another make a world of difference.

I am an action taker. No matter how small or big, a gesture to me is one of the simplest ways to show someone that you care.

Some days, months, or maybe even years, can feel like a struggle. Nothing seems to be going right, you don’t seem to be on the same page and all you need to know is that you are still on their mind. That they see you when maybe no one else does. Sometimes all we need is that reassurance, and it goes both ways. That’s what is important to remember, that’s what will make you a dynamite duo that will come out on the other side.

It can be anything.

Flowers.

A note.

A phone call.

Breakfast in bed.

An old photograph.

A surprise visit.

A favourite chocolate bar.

A date night out.

A cup of coffee.

I was talking to my best friend the other day and we both made a point of saying how meaningful any one of these things can be on any given day. In fact, maybe even how much more meaningful these things can be on a totally ordinary-not-so-special-nothing day.

If you’re struggling with infertility there are moments when you can feel so totally alone. It can feel impossible to talk to girlfriends who might be bursting-at-the-seams pregnant. Let’s be honest, it can feel impossible to talk to anyone sometimes. That’s where your dynamite duo comes in. Whoever they are. You need them. They need you. Show them that. Sometimes spreading love can fill you with even more love than you could have ever imagined.

If you’re pregnant you could be feeling insanely hormonal and uncomfortable in your own skin. Having someone recognize and tell you that you look beautiful and magical even if you absolutely don’t feel like that, that you’re allowed to feel sad and scared and alone and frustrated and just plain ready. Having someone help you to remember when you shone the brightest.

You don’t need to be close by and it doesn’t need to be long conversation. To simply know and feel that someone is thinking about you is one of the most powerful things in the world. It’s different than advice, it’s a selfless gesture that doesn’t need reciprocation. It’s done purely out of love. That’s what makes it so magical.
