Growth

Almost exactly one year ago I started the new iteration of Lovefestjourney. Not only did I want it to be a place to learn to love your whole self, I wanted it to become a place to land and feel held, a place to empower and inspire you to be able to dig into your own stuff, while being supported.

As many of you know, I am a breathwork teacher and a textile designer. I hold both almost daily alongside being a mother and partner to three really special humans. There are so many titles that we all hold and I love learning about them all each time I connect with you – it’s probably one of my most favourite parts of what I do.

This past year one of the things I’ve done is meld together both sides of myself – the designer and the care taker. My new logo and website are the product of this merriment and I am so honoured to be able to finally have it forward facing. I couldn’t have done it without the support of each of you showing up to my events or one on one sessions to dig into what’s going on beneath the surface for you. Sometimes it looked like celebrating a loved one or yourself and honestly, I can’t wait to keep doing more of that.

The biggest thanks goes out to my long standing design inspiration Danielle Suppa who created this magical logo for me after many heartfelt conversations of what I wanted this iteration of myself to look like.

It may be “just a website”, but to me, the forward facing version of ourselves is one that can be deeply nourishing as it becomes our visual identity to those who don’t know our hearts yet. I will always love both sides of me – the one that guides and digs into the inner work, and the one that loves to help people to express their external selves creatively.

There are a lot of different styles of breathwork out there – and depending on who you are and what you’re working through, different ones serve us in different ways.

For me, coming into this style of breathwork with a new found trauma, I found myself craving a gentle space, one where I could connect to my body
and my heart without pushing myself too much into a place that might activate me beyond my feeling of safety. I believe it’s important to find your
boundaries and limits and encourage yourself to grow past them, as long as it feels safe to you to do so.

That is why I guide and practice it myself. I move through what I’m feeling while I breathe. I don’t force myself to adapt, I adapt as I learn how to breathe again and again and again. And as I move my body and breath, I move what wants to move in my body.

The space of holding grief, trauma and stuck energy is delicate and tender and it can sometimes show up unannounced. It can feel overwhelming and at other times completely at home in our body.

My goal is to help you find out what those feelings feel like physically in your body and help you to honour and acknowledge them – and then move
them up, up and out.

All in your own body, in whatever way looks and feels best to you.

Through words, music and guidance we’ll find that space together.

First up, Saturday Morning Breathwork. A slow and steady entrance to the day that will leave you feeling:

– A primal sense of connection to your body and heart
– Awake, alive and like you’ve arrived for the day
– A burst of creativity and imagination

If you’ve been curious about trying breathwork or are wanting to wake up and feel what it’s like to inhabit your body, this is for you!

On this page here, you’ll find hopefully most of the information you might be curious about. I talk about community support and with that in mind, each of my group classes will donate a portion of the proceeds to a different cause each class. This coming Satuday’s class I have already donated funds to The Daunte Wright Sr. Memorial Fund. The following class will be connecting with The Period Purse in Toronto.

I can hardly wait to see you on the other side of my screen one day soon.

From the top of my heart xo Val
